President Jokowi inaugurates Agus Subiyanto as the Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
Nurimator.com - President Joko Widodo inaugurated and administered the oath of office to General TNI Agus Subiyanto as the Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The inauguration took place at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
Agus Subiyanto was appointed as the TNI Commander based on the Presidential Decree (Keppres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 102/TNI/2023 concerning the Termination and Appointment of the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. The Presidential Decree was issued in Jakarta on November 22, 2023.
"I swear that I will be loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and will uphold all laws and regulations to the best of my ability for the devoted service to the nation and the state," the President recited a portion of the oath of office.
"In carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of the position, work to the best of my ability, and fulfill my responsibilities. I will uphold the oath of a soldier," the President continued.
The ceremony proceeded with the signing of the appointment oath document for the TNI Commander. Acting as witnesses were the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud Md, and the Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto.
Agus Subiyanto was inaugurated as the TNI Commander, succeeding Admiral Yudo Margono, who was entering retirement. It is worth noting that before being appointed as the TNI Commander, Agus served as the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD).
In his statement after the inauguration ceremony, Agus mentioned that he would continue the programs of the previous TNI Commander. Furthermore, in carrying out his duties, the TNI Commander would adhere to the PRIMA vision and mission, which stands for professional, responsive, integrative, modern, and adaptive.
"My vision and mission are for a PRIMA TNI, where PRIMA stands for professional, responsive, integrative, modern, and adaptive. Professionalism, of course, involves being well-trained, well-equipped, and, of course, well-paid – I will propose an increase in allowances through a bottom-up approach to the Ministry of Defense," Agus stated before the media.
Those present at the inauguration included various state officials, several ministers from the Indonesia Maju cabinet, Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the chiefs of the armed forces, and the outgoing TNI Commander, Admiral Yudo Margono.
